Subtle discontent is brewing within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kosofe Federal Constituency as Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, Member of the House of Representatives, was spotted over the weekend campaigning for APC councilorship candidate Sobanke in Magodo-Shangisha, Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, ahead of the July 12 local government elections in Lagos State.

While Ogbara’s presence on the streets energised party faithful and drew cheers from residents, her strategic campaign stops have not gone unnoticed—particularly her silence regarding the re-election bid of Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, the incumbent Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA and APC’s official flagbearer.

Although she has previously declared support for other APC Chairmanship candidates, including Moyosore Ogunlewe (Kosofe LG) and Adetola Adunni Abubakar (Agboyi-Ketu LCDA), Ogbara has yet to be seen publicly endorsing or campaigning alongside Bada, despite actively canvassing votes in the LCDA.

Party watchers say the absence of open support for Bada from the federal lawmaker is fuelling speculations of underlying tensions within the APC’s local structure. Some suggest a silent political rift, while others view it as a tactical distancing from a controversial candidacy marred by allegations of a third-term bid.
“It’s difficult not to notice,” a party loyalist who asked not to be named told KosofePost. “How do you campaign for a councillorship candidate in Ikosi-Isheri and skip the Chairmanship candidate in the same LCDA?”
As campaigns intensify across Lagos’ 57 council areas, APC members in Kosofe are now left guessing whether Hon. Ogbara’s campaign strategy is driven by internal disagreements, political caution, or a calculated show of neutrality.
With barely weeks to the polls, all eyes remain on whether the lawmaker will close ranks and throw her weight behind all APC Chairmanship candidates in her constituency—or maintain her current selective approach.
