What was expected to be a celebratory moment for the lawmaker representing Kosofe Federal Constituency, Kafilat Adetola Ogbara, has instead highlighted the shifting political dynamics within the constituency as the 2027 general elections draw closer.
Rather than the usual wave of unchallenged endorsements often associated with an incumbent’s milestone, Ogbara’s birthday comes amid growing political activity and increasing interest from multiple aspirants within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Political observers note that the constituency is witnessing early signs of a competitive race, with several prominent figures already positioning themselves. Among those reportedly in the mix are former Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Yetunde Arobieke; Remi Odunsi; Abiodun Owokoya; and former Agboyi-Ketu LCDA Chairman, Dele Oshinowo.
Across Kosofe, consultations and stakeholder engagements have intensified, with aspirants holding meetings and building alliances ahead of party primaries. Analysts suggest that the contest could be determined either through a direct primary process or a consensus arrangement, depending on internal party decisions.
While some supporters of the incumbent continue to project confidence in her re-election prospects, maintaining that there is “no vacancy” in the constituency, the growing number of aspirants and heightened political mobilisation suggest an increasingly open race.
Observers add that the coming months will be critical in shaping the trajectory of the contest, as party dynamics, endorsements from influential stakeholders, and grassroots support begin to crystallise.
As celebrations mark another year for the incumbent lawmaker, the political atmosphere in Kosofe continues to evolve, setting the stage for what could become a closely contested race ahead of 2027.
