The youth community in Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has rejected what it described as a purported endorsement of Olotu Emmanuel, insisting that the claim does not reflect the position of the majority of young people in the area.

In a strongly worded statement issued under the leadership of Ojo Abegunde, the group described the endorsement as “stage-managed,” alleging that it was influenced by inducements offered to a select group rather than a genuine expression of grassroots support.

The youths also criticised the lawmaker’s performance as the representative of Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, alleging that his tenure has been marked by limited accessibility, weak engagement with constituents, and minimal visible developmental impact.

According to the statement, the representative has remained largely disconnected from party members and community stakeholders, with participation in political and community activities reportedly confined to a narrow circle of associates.

They further raised concerns over what they described as a lack of meaningful progress in youth-focused initiatives, including limited support for education and empowerment programmes such as the distribution of GCE and JAMB forms.

The group also questioned the quality of legislative representation, claiming there has been little evidence of advocacy or contributions that directly benefit the constituency.

Reaffirming their position, the youths emphasised that leadership should be anchored on accountability, transparency, accessibility, and measurable impact. They called on residents to critically assess political performance and resist attempts to influence public opinion through what they termed orchestrated endorsements.

They also urged stakeholders to support leaders who demonstrate inclusiveness and a clear commitment to community development.

The statement concluded with a call for a free, fair, and credible primary election ahead of the 2027 general polls, stressing the need to allow constituents determine their preferred candidate.
