The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday conducted its House of Assembly primary elections across Kosofe Constituencies 1 and 2, attracting significant political attention across the various wards within the constituency.

Although the exercise was largely peaceful in most areas, isolated tensions and minor disruptions were reported in a few wards, reflecting the intense competition among aspirants seeking the party’s ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, the Chairman, Hon. Oyetola Abubakar, commended the conduct of the primaries, expressing satisfaction with the overall process and describing the exercise as transparent and orderly.

“From our observation here, the election was well-managed and demonstrated the commitment of our party to democracy,” Abubakar stated, while also emphasizing the importance of unity, discipline, and peaceful participation among party members.

Security personnel were reportedly deployed across strategic locations to maintain law and order during the exercise. Despite pockets of tension in some areas, the situation remained largely under control as voting and collation processes concluded without any major breakdown of peace.

Party officials, stakeholders, and supporters expressed optimism that the outcome of the primaries would further strengthen the APC’s structure within Kosofe ahead of the general elections.

Political observers also noted that the primaries served as a significant test of grassroots mobilization and political influence among aspirants and local party structures within the constituency.

As the APC prepares for the next phase of the electoral process, stakeholders have continued to urge party members to maintain unity and uphold the spirit of internal democracy throughout the post-primary period.
