Residents of Ajayi Aina Road in the Ifako area of Kosofe Local Government have welcomed the commencement of the long-awaited reconstruction of the road, following the official flag-off by the Executive Chairman of the council, Barr. Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe.

The flag-off ceremony was attended by the Leader of the House, Hon. Femi Oyesile, who represents Ifako Ward, the Chairman of the Kosofe Community Development Committee (CDC), Hon. Segun Babatunde, community leaders and residents.

Speaking at the event, Ogunlewe said the project is designed to provide a lasting solution to the challenges faced by residents rather than serve as a temporary intervention.

According to him, the reconstruction will include the construction of drainage channels on both sides of the road to address the persistent flooding that has affected movement, damaged property and disrupted daily activities in the community.

He assured residents that the administration remains committed to delivering quality infrastructure that will improve living conditions and enhance economic activities across the local government.

Community leaders, including the Chairman of the Ifako Joint CDA, Mr. Femi Ojo, and traditional leaders (Baales), commended the council chairman for responding to the community’s long-standing request for the rehabilitation of the road.

They described the project as a major boost to the safety, accessibility and development of the area, expressing optimism that it would improve transportation and benefit residents and businesses.

Ogunlewe also urged residents to participate actively in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ahead of the next general elections, stressing that sustained community development depends on active civic participation.

He encouraged eligible residents to obtain or update their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), noting that democratic participation remains essential to sustaining good governance and infrastructure development in the community.
