INEC Lists 21 Candidates for Kosofe Assembly Seats, Only Three Women on Ballot

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the final list of candidates for the Kosofe Constituencies I and II seats in the Lagos State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The official list, signed by INEC Secretary Rose Oriaran-Anthony, contains 21 candidates across 11 political parties, with 11 candidates contesting in Kosofe Constituency I and 10 in Constituency II.

The candidates’ details include their ages, gender, party affiliations, educational qualifications, and disability status.

Kosofe Constituency I: 11 Candidates

The candidates listed for Kosofe Constituency I are:

• ADP: Ayodele Kehinde Omobolanle, 47, female. FSLC and SSCE.
• AAC: Ishola Rauf, 36, male. FSLC and SSCE.
• ADC: Oluwasola Adeshina Gabriel, 48, male. Primary School Certificate, WAEC and National Diploma.
• APC: Sanni Ganiyu Babatunde O., 61, male. FSLC, SSCE and BSc.
• APM: Aransi Rasheed Olalekan, 41, male.
• NDP: Ogunbona Jeleel Ola, 50, male. FSLC, WAEC and BSc.
• NRM: Garber Adeniyi Valentine, 66, male. FSLC, SSCE and HND.
• NDC: Jackson-Cole Joseph Olufemi, 47, male. FSLC and SSCE.
• PDP: Eniayewun Iseoluwa Abiodun, 41, male. FSLC, SSCE and BSc Economics.
• SDP: Adefolarin Easter Opeyemi, 53, female. FSLC, WAEC and HND.
• YPP: Buraimoh Peter Folajimi, 32, male. WAEC and BSc.

Kosofe Constituency II: 10 Candidates

INEC’s list names the following candidates for Kosofe Constituency II:

• AAC: Ogundele Semiu Olaitan, 42, male. FSLC and SSCE.
• ADC: Arowolo Olawale Olumayowa, 42, male. Primary School Certificate, WAEC and National Diploma.
• APC: Seriki Muritala Ishola, 40, male. FSLC, SSCE and BSc.
• APM: Adelaja Fatimo, 45, female.
• NDP: Onikoyi Ganiu Alade, 39, male. FSLC, WAEC and BSc.
• NRM: Olajiga Olumuyiwa Ayodeji, 56, male. FSLC and WAEC.
• NDC: Akinyemi Olushile Akinbowale, 45, male. FSLC and SSCE.
• PDP: Datsaba Etsegbe Williams, 60, male. FSLC, WAEC and Commercial College qualification.
• SDP: Bejide Olawale Olatunji, 39, male. FSLC, SSCE and BSc.
• YPP: Okufuwa Samad Toyin, 48, male. First School Leaving Certificate and SSCE.

Women Account for Three of 21 Candidates

The list shows that only three of the 21 candidates are women, representing approximately 14.3 per cent of the candidates across the two constituencies.

They are Ayodele Kehinde Omobolanle of the ADP and Adefolarin Easter Opeyemi of the SDP, both contesting in Kosofe Constituency I, and Adelaja Fatimo of the APM in Constituency II.

The candidates also span a wide age range. At 32, Buraimoh Peter Folajimi of the YPP is the youngest candidate on the list, while Garber Adeniyi Valentine of the NRM, aged 66, is the oldest.

INEC’s published entries list “None” in the Persons with Disabilities (PWD) column for all 21 candidates, indicating that none is recorded under that category in the document.

With the final list published, voters can examine the candidates’ party affiliations and declared qualifications as they prepare for the 2027 Lagos State House of Assembly elections.
