A member of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Seun Salami, has called on the leaders of the party to urgently reconcile aggrieved aspirants and members ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Following the troubling attitude of some of the party’s candidates following their election last May, Seun Salami, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress in Kosofe, made an appeal to the Kosofe Post in a personal statement on how to save the party’s soul.

“I have watched with keen interest the political atmosphere of Kosofe federal constituency after the successful APC primary election and I would like to appreciate the pragmatic effort made and the reconciliatory strides to reach out to the aggrieved members of the party and co-contestants thus far by our indefatigable principal and the most distinguished Honourable Okanlawon Sanni geared towards restoring harmony to our ever adjudged peaceful constituency in the aftermath of the primary election in anticipation of a resounding victory for our party at all levels.

“I sincerely commend the steps taken thus far to pacify the aspirants, and I would like to join him in appealing to those who are still aggrieved to sheath their swords for the interest of our great party. I’m pretty sure that those APC members that connived with PDP to dethrone APC in the state must’ve been regretting the action by now because there’s no place like home. We are stronger together, and APC remains our party, and we should not allow the outcome of the just concluded primary to divide us.”

However, party leaders should advise other candidates to follow in the footsteps of Hon Okanlawon Sanni, popularly known as OKLA, and, most importantly, Hon Kafilat Ogbara, our house of representatives candidate, who has chosen to remain silent since she emerged victorious in the May 27, 2022, primary election and has not felt the need to reach out to her co-contestants, believing those aspirants did not matter.

“This is unhealthy for the party and she must be called to order now,” Salami says.

“Going up and down with Asiwaju cannot earn her votes; rather, she should focus more on grassroot mobilization and consolidate on the mandate freely given to her to represent the party at the national assembly by selling herself to the electorate and the larger party members. Underrating anyone at this point is at their peril.”

He urged party stakeholders to embark on true reconciliation by reaching out to individuals one-on-one towards resolving the lingering crisis in the party in the interest of party candidates.

“Let us heal the pre and post primary election wounds in our personal contact relationship and embrace each other,” Seun Salami pleaded.
