Igboora High School Celebrates Glorious 60th Anniversary: ABK Pays Tribute to Alma Mater

Igboora High School, one of Ibarapa’s premier educational institutions located in Oyo State, recently commemorated a significant milestone as it celebrated its 60th anniversary with a week-long series of events. The occasion was graced by Honorable Afolabi Bamisile Kazeem, an esteemed alumnus from the ’81 set, who fondly goes by the name ABK. ABK expressed his admiration for the school and reminisced about the good old days.

The anniversary festivities, which took place from July 1 to July 8, commenced with a church service at Methodist Church, Oke Ago. The vibrant celebrations continued with a candlelight procession, career path counseling sessions, a novelty football match, and a captivating public lecture delivered by Professor Adeolu Akande. The event was chaired by Senator Sarafa Alli and hosted by Dr. Augustine Okesola.

On Friday, a Jumat service was held to accommodate the diverse religious affiliations of the school community. The grand finale of the anniversary celebration and an award ceremony took place on Saturday, culminating in the commissioning of various projects aimed at enhancing the school’s infrastructure and facilities.

Honorable Afolabi A.B. Kazeem, the Assistant Secretary of the IGHOSA ’81 Executives 2023 and the former Executive Secretary of Ikosi Isheri LCDA in the Kosofe area, expressed his profound admiration for Igboora High School. Speaking with the press, he lauded the collective efforts of the alumni in contributing to the growth and development of their Alma Mater throughout the years. He also shared cherished memories of his time at the school and the positive impact it had on his life.

Also, the ’81 set, under the leadership of Dr. Billy Olalekan Ogunsola as President, embarked on several programs and interventions to benefit the school. These initiatives included the renovation of the chemistry, physics, and biology laboratories, as well as the provision of necessary equipment. The ’81 set also made generous donations to the school’s parent body, the Alumni Association, to support national programs and initiatives.
