An aspirant for the Kosofe Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, Dele Oshinowo, has said residents of the constituency deserve stronger and more responsive representation at the federal level.

Oshinowo, the immediate past Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), made this known while speaking on the sidelines of a surprise 60th birthday celebration held in honour of Kunle Soname at the Lagos Marriott Hotel Ikeja.

The former council chairman, who served between 2017 and 2025, said his decision to contest is driven by a commitment to deepen representation and deliver more impactful governance.

“I believe in a stronger Kosofe—one that brings everyone together in representation. I am not saying the current representative is not performing, but I am confident that I can do more by engaging directly with the needs of our people,” he said.

Oshinowo noted that several issues within the constituency require strategic reorganisation and policy-driven solutions. He emphasized the need for legislative interventions that directly impact residents, particularly in areas of youth empowerment, economic inclusion, and community development.

According to him, his experience at the local government level provides a framework for broader legislative impact.

“If you look at what we achieved at the local government level, we transformed how governance is structured. The same approach can be replicated at the federal level to improve outcomes for our people,” he added.

The aspirant, who has formally declared his intention to contest the seat currently occupied by Kafilat Adetola Ogbara, reiterated his focus on policy reforms that will translate into tangible benefits for constituents.

He also highlighted youth inclusion as a central pillar of his agenda, arguing that sustained investment in youth empowerment is critical to reducing crime and improving social stability.

“The youths have been marginalised for too long. They need structured opportunities—through employment, education, and enterprise support. When young people are meaningfully engaged, it reduces social tension and improves community well-being,” he said.

Oshinowo further stressed that his ambition is rooted in service rather than personal interest, adding that effective representation requires the ability to translate community needs into actionable legislation.

“To serve in the House of Representatives is to engage critical minds in shaping policies that define the future of our country,” he said.

His remarks come amid increasing political activity in Kosofe Federal Constituency, as aspirants position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
