Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, the newly elected member of the House of Representatives, finds herself navigating a delicate path, mindful of the pitfalls that befell her predecessor, Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye.
While Agunsoye’s tenure was marked by commendable achievements, his strained relationship with local government chairmen, Kosofe GAC members, and party leaders ultimately led to his political downfall. Now, Ogbara must tread cautiously, as the shadow of her predecessor’s tumultuous tenure looms large.

Despite benefiting from the fallout between Agunsoye and these stakeholders, Ogbara faces the daunting task of reconciling with them to ensure a successful representation. The recent Kosofe APC Strategic stakeholders meeting and a town hall gathering organized by Ogbara highlighted the deep-seated divisions within the ruling party in the constituency.
Ogbara’s emergence as the party candidate was facilitated by key figures such as Samiat Bada, Mayor Dele Oshinowo, and Moyosore Ogunlewe, who threw their weight behind her candidacy. However, her victory was not without controversy, as allegations of mismanagement of election funds and grievances against her benefactors linger.
Moreover, Ogbara’s relationship with local government chairmen and GAC leaders remains strained, posing a challenge to her ability to effectively represent the constituency. The recent primary election, marred by the absence of the incumbent Commissioner for Waterfront and Infrastructure Development, Hon. Dayo Bush, underscored the underlying tensions within the party.
As Ogbara assumes her role as the highest-ranking political office holder in Kosofe, she faces the daunting task of reconciling with disgruntled stakeholders and fostering unity within the party. Failure to address these lingering issues could jeopardize her tenure and the political stability of the constituency.
